History
Limeray possessed, in the Merovingian period, a mint workshop. In 1431, Limeray became a royal prevôté, first given by engagement, then sold. This building presents itself as a church. It is a building of trapezoidal plan, the upper storey of which has been largely demolished. A great hall occupies three-quarters of the north side of the ground floor. Inside, against the left wall, is found the trace of the bases of the columns marking the seat of the lord dispensing justice.
