Il est possible que l'église dont subsistent les ruines ait été celle du prieuré Saint-Ambroise. Les Cordeliers ont dû être installés à l'Ile-Bouchard avant 1634, date indiquée comme étant celle de la création du monastère. History
It is possible that the church of which ruins remain was that of the priory of Saint-Ambroise. The Cordeliers must have been installed at Ile-Bouchard before 1634, the date indicated as being that of the creation of the monastery. The conventual building was probably constructed in the years following the reform of 1634. Of the 12th-century church there remain the chevet, the choir, the crossing, the transept arms and the apsidiole accompanying the south transept arm. The crossing of the transept was covered with a dome whose capitals are ornamented with figures. The north transept arm was buried in the 17th-century building. Inside, converted into a sawmill, there remains a 12th-century bas-relief representing sirens and fish, as well as traces of frescoes.
