Historique
D'abord simple fief relevant de Montrichard, Genillé fut érigé en châtellenie en 1515, avec réunion au domaine des Roches Saint-Quentin. Le premier seigneur connu en fut Adam Fumée, médecin de Charles VII et Louis XI. Le château comprend un grand corps de bâtiment accompagné, à ses angles nord-ouest et sud-ouest, de deux grosses tours cylindriques. Les angles nrod-est et sud-est portent, sur des culs de lampe, des échauguettes. Sur la façade orientale fait saillie une tour octogonale logeant une vis. Une aile courte fut appuyée en retour d'équerre à la façade orientale, entre la tour d'escalier et le mur pignon nord. Cette aile date du 17e siècle et fut prolongée postérieurement. Au sud de la cour, une aile en retour vers l'est a disparu. Les douves ont été presque complètement comblées.

History
At first a simple fief held from Montrichard, Genillé was erected into a castellany in 1515, with the joining to the domain of Roches Saint-Quentin. The first known lord of it was Adam Fumée, physician to Charles VII and Louis XI. The castle comprises a large main building accompanied, at its north-west and south-west corners, by two large cylindrical towers. The north-east and south-east corners bear, on corbels, small turrets. On the eastern façade projects an octagonal tower housing a spiral staircase. A short wing was supported in a right-angled return at the eastern façade, between the staircase tower and the north gable wall. This wing dates from the 17th century and was extended later. To the south of the courtyard, a wing in return towards the east has disappeared. The moats have been almost completely filled in.
