Historique

History
Le Paradis formed a fief holding of the seigniory of the Cartes. The castle was probably built at the end of the 15th century or the beginning of the 16th century. The castle then consisted of a building pierced with windows flanked by pilasters and a stair turret projecting on the south facade, as well as a wing in right-angle return towards the north. Of this wing only the west wall remains. In 1767, Le Paradis was acquired by the Duke of Choiseul who had the castle transformed by rebuilding the eastern wing on a grander plan, and the return wing, extended by two small pavilions. Then, the new castle was extended to the north and south in the same architecture, in place of these two pavilions. In a ground-floor room have been transferred panelling and a painted ceiling from the Hôtel Joyeuse at Amboise, and a stone fireplace from Chanteloup. To the north-east subsists the 16th-century dovecote.
