History

Les Hayes constituted a fief held from the barony of Rillé. The castle was raised in the 15th century in place of an older building, probably from the 14th century, of which there remains to the north a cylindrical tower partially preserved in the construction. The building is flanked, at the north-east angle, by a square tower whose upper storey was removed, and at its south-west angle by another tower, probably rectangular, but which was removed in the 17th century. On the south façade stands out a polygonal tower containing a stone spiral staircase. In the 17th century, the building was extended to the west by a building of equal elevation. A chapel was built to the west of the courtyard, bounded on the east by an outbuilding that ends, to the south, in a square tower of the 15th century.
