Au milieu du 9e siècle, Raymond, comte de Toulouse et vicomte de Limoges, fonde le prieuré Saint-Martiel. De 1160 à 1184, l'église, les cloîtres et les bâtiments conventuels sont construits. Le bâtiment sud-est est quant à lui du 18e siècle, mais a conservé la façade occidentale du 12e siècle. Le prieuré est supprimé en 1764 et les bâtiments sont vendus comme biens nationaux à la Révolution.

History
In the middle of the 9th century, Raymond, Count of Toulouse and Viscount of Limoges, founded the priory of Saint-Martiel. From 1160 to 1184, the church, cloisters and conventional buildings were constructed. The south-east building is from the 18th century, but has preserved the western façade of the 12th century. The priory was suppressed in 1764 and the buildings were sold as national property at the Revolution.
