Historique
Ce prieuré, de l'ordre de Gandmont, doit dater de la fin du 12e siècle. L'ordre fut supprimé vers 1740, et Puychevrier fut réuni au séminaire de Poitiers. Les biens furent vendus en 1790. La chapelle est voûtée en berceau brisé. La grande porte, à l'ouest, est ornée de deux tores en plein cintre. La porte des moines, au sud, est en arc brisé. L'aile Est comporte la salle capitulaire. Ensuite viennent le réfectoire puis la cuisine. Le premier étage renfermait le dortoir. L'aile sud, diminuée, fut dotée au 17e siècle d'un escalier monumental occupant l'infirmerie. Autrefois accolée à l'aile sud se tenait une tour carrée. L'aile ouest contenait les bâtiments agricoles et le logement du prieur. A l'entrée se trouvait la maison du frère portier. Le cloître était en bois.

History
This priory, of the order of Gandmont, must date from the late 12th century. The order was suppressed around 1740, and Puychevrier was united with the seminary of Poitiers. The goods were sold in 1790. The chapel is vaulted in broken barrel vault. The great door, to the west, is decorated with two round-arch tori. The monks' door, to the south, is in a pointed arch. The East wing comprises the chapter house. Next come the refectory then the kitchen. The first floor contained the dormitory. The south wing, diminished, was provided in the 17th century with a monumental staircase occupying the infirmary. Formerly attached to the south wing stood a square tower. The west wing contained the farm buildings and the lodging of the prior. At the entrance was the house of the brother porter. The cloister was timber.
