La chapelle dite "aux bobines" a été érigée en 1859 par Euphémie Jourdain, l'une des fondatrices du pélerinage de Notre-Dame de Beauvais, qui se déroulait le 1er mai de chaque année. Cette chapelle est devenue le lieu de dévotion des ouvrières en confection, l'Indre étant devenu vers 1870 l'un des principaux centres nationaux pour la production de lingerie et de chemises. L'intérêt de cette chapelle réside dans le témoignage qu'elle apporte sur un corps social né de l'industrie textile. Tout son décor a été réalisé avec des bobines de fil par les ouvrières elles-mêmes.

History
The chapel called "aux bobines" was erected in 1859 by Euphémie Jourdain, one of the founders of the pilgrimage of Notre-Dame de Beauvais, which took place on 1 May of each year. This chapel became the place of devotion for the seamstresses, Indre having become around 1870 one of the principal national centres for the production of linen and shirts. The interest of this chapel lies in the testimony it bears of a social body born of the textile industry. All its decoration was made with thread bobbins by the workers themselves.
