Dernier château parmi les deux qui gardaient la vallée de la Creuse au 12e siècle, le second disparu étant le donjon en Poitou. C'est l'un des rares exemples de donjons jumeaux connu. History
Last château among the two that guarded the valley of the Creuse in the 12th century, the second now disappeared being the keep in Poitou. It is one of the rare known examples of twin keeps. These keeps without buttresses and with smooth walls have their sides parallel. They are positioned on two independent and parallel axes, creating an offset. After 1714, they were linked by a low building.
