Historique
Le prieuré de Néron, dépendant de l'abbaye de Thiron, s'est formé aux 12e et 13e siècles. L'église n'est pas attestée au-delà du milieu du 13e siècle. Elle se compose d'une nef avec choeur et sanctuaire, cette partie formant l'édifice d'origine. Vers 1330, une nef latérale fut ajoutée. Le clocher, détruit par la foudre en 1701, a été reconstruit en 1723. L'édifice est entouré par le jardin du presbytère, une cour dépendant de la ferme et les bâtiments de celle-ci. Cette ferme a probablement été construite au 17e siècle. Elle se compose de deux bâtiments de hauteur différente, reliés en leur angle par une tourelle. Les façades sur rue sont en pierres et briques ; celles sur cour sont en maçonnerie au rez-de-chaussée et en colombages sur les étages. Ces bâtiments constituèrent les communs du prieuré.

L’église de Néron est bâtie sur le versant Nord de la côte de Néron, elle est entourée du côté de ce versant par le jardin du presbytère, une cour dépendant de la ferme et par les bâtiments de celle-ci sur la face Sud par une place gazonnée. Elle présente une nef principale de 27 m de longueur sur 17 de large et 10 m pour le choeur et le sanctuaire. Cette partie formait l’édifice d’origine. Vers 1330, une nef latérale fut ajoutée, composée de 6 travées éclairées par des fenêtres en ogives. La voûte en plein cintre est en bardeau.

History
The priory of Néron, dependent on the abbey of Thiron, was formed in the 12th and 13th centuries. The church is not attested beyond the middle of the 13th century. It is composed of a nave with choir and sanctuary, this part forming the original building. Around 1330, a lateral nave was added. The bell tower, destroyed by lightning in 1701, was rebuilt in 1723. The building is surrounded by the presbytery garden, a courtyard depending on the farm and the farm buildings. This farm was probably built in the 17th century. It is composed of two buildings of different heights, connected at their corner by a turret. The street façades are in stone and brick; those on the courtyard are in masonry on the ground floor and in timber framing on the upper storeys. These buildings constituted the outbuildings of the priory.
