Historique
L'ancien hôtel-Dieu présente une chapelle en briques et pierre, ainsi qu'un ensemble de bâtiments autour d'une cour intérieure. La chapelle a été élevée entre 1562 et 1600. L'édifice conserve un tour d'abandon pour enfants trouvés. Le tour d'abandon, officialisé en 1811, disparaît en 1860. Celui-ci, mis en service en 1812, cessa son activité en 1837, et reçut en tout près de 500 enfants. Le tour occupe un pilier de briques du portail d'accès, entre la porte charretière et la porte piétonne. Logé dans un évidement de la maçonnerie, le tour est constitué par un demi cylindre de bois garni d'une paillasse. Il est monté sur un pivot qui permet de le tourner vers deux guichets fermés par des volets de tôle et s'ouvrant, l'un sur la rue, l'autre sur la cour de l'établissement. Ce tour est le seul conservé dans le département.

History
The former hôtel-Dieu presents a chapel in brick and stone, as well as a set of buildings around an internal courtyard. The chapel was built between 1562 and 1600. The building preserves a turn for foundlings. The turning cradle, formalized in 1811, disappeared in 1860. The one put into service in 1812 ceased operations in 1837, and received in total nearly 500 children. The turn occupies a brick pillar of the entrance portal, between the carriage gate and the pedestrian gate. Housed in a cavity of the masonry, the turn is formed by a half cylinder of wood lined with straw. It is mounted on a pivot which allows it to turn towards two hatches closed by sheet-metal shutters and opening, one onto the street, the other onto the courtyard of the establishment. This turn is the only one preserved in the department.
