Historique

History
Castle built in the 15th century for Jean Dumesnil-Simon, governor of Berry, on the site of an ancient dwelling that had belonged to the Sully at the end of the 13th century. From the reconstruction of the 15th century remains the central block flanked by a tall round tower to the east and a hexagonal staircase tower to the west. A south wing was built in the 18th century and, between 1861 and 1863, a north wing. On this occasion, the entire building was remodelled quite profoundly in neo-Gothic style (exteriors and interiors), restoration carried out from 1860 by the architect Tarlier. The interior decorations are representative of the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1872 the wooden handrail of the monumental stone staircase was put in place, a model that remained in place of a wrought ironwork that was never executed.
