Historique
Prieuré-cure dépendant de l'abbaye bénédictine de femmes de Charenton-du-Cher, supprimé en 1503. La paroisse qui y était annexée subsista jusqu'à la Révolution. L'église fut alors vendue comme bien national. La nef fut convertie en habitation particulière. Le choeur et l'abside furent utilisés comme chapelle funéraire privée. L'édifice se divise en trois parties bien distinctes : une nef unique qui ne semble pas avoir reçu de voûte et dont la construction paraît dater de la seconde moitié du 12e siècle ; la travée de l'ancien clocher qui peut appartenir à la même campagne de construction, couverte d'une coupole sur trompes, et le choeur voûté en berceau légèrement brisé, élevé à la fin du 12e siècle ou au début du siècle suivant. Une grande peinture murale représentant le couronnement de la Vierge occupe le cul de four de l'abside. Dans un médaillon à huit lobes, le Christ et Marie sont assis côte à côte. Le Christ couronne sa mère. Autour de la Gloire sont groupés des anges musiciens sur deux registres. Cette peinture paraît dater de la fin du 13e siècle.

History
Priory-cure depending on the Benedictine abbey for women of Charenton-du-Cher, suppressed in 1503. The parish which was annexed to it subsisted until the Revolution. The church was then sold as national property. The nave was converted into a private dwelling. The choir and apse were used as a private funeral chapel. The building is divided into three distinct parts: a single nave which does not appear to have received a vault and whose construction appears to date from the second half of the 12th century; the bay of the former bell tower which may belong to the same building campaign, covered with a cupola on squinches, and the choir barrel-vaulted slightly pointed, raised at the end of the 12th century or at the beginning of the following century. A large wall painting representing the coronation of the Virgin occupies the conch of the apse. In an eight-lobed medallion, Christ and Mary are seated side by side. Christ crowns his mother. Around the Glory are grouped angel musicians on two registers. This painting appears to date from the end of the 13th century.
