History
The motte is surrounded by its ditch. The ensemble also comprises a first lower courtyard, seat of the later castle, and a second lower courtyard housing the village itself. The present village results from a displacement of the old habitation (Gallo-Roman site on the right bank of the stream and hermitage of Saint-Marien) by attraction to the castle. This motte is a representative example of a motte castle for the Cher.
