History
Knights of the house of Couyssels are mentioned in the second half of the 13th century. The construction of the present castle dates from the end of the 15th century, but preserves certain parts dating from the 12th century. In the 16th century, Louis de Laval made his castle one of the principal centres where the Protestants of the region would gather. The castle was already abandoned at the time of the Revolution.
