Le château a été édifié au 18e siècle par le poète Jean-Jacques Lefranc de Pompignan dans un style classique. De vastes proportions, il est construit sur une terrasse dominant le village et entouré d'un parc auquel donne accès un porche voûté orné d'une fine grille en fer forgé. De part et d'autre de ce porche, s'étendent les bâtiments de l'Hôtellerie et de l'orangerie (transformés en chapelle par les religieuses qui ont occupé le château). Le château possède une partie semi-circulaire sur sa façade nord qui était autrefois occupée par un théâtre.

History
The castle was built in the 18th century by the poet Jean-Jacques Lefranc de Pompignan in a classical style. Of vast proportions, it is built on a terrace overlooking the village and surrounded by a park accessed by a vaulted porch decorated with fine wrought ironwork. On either side of this porch extend the buildings of the Hostelry and the orangery (transformed into a chapel by the religious sisters who occupied the castle). The castle has a semi-circular part on its north façade which was formerly occupied by a theatre.
