Historique
Le marquis Henri de Montpezat avait laissé une somme à dépenser en bonnes oeuvres au moment de son décès. Avec l'autorisation de l'évêque de Cahors, son épouse fonda un monastère d'Ursulines afin de donner aux jeunes filles du pays une éducation chrétienne et l'instruction. En 1796, le monastère fut évacué et vendu en partie. La plupart des locaux furent affectés aux services communaux. La façade principale donnant sur la place masque le cloître. Trois galeries légèrement en contrebas par rapport au niveau du sol, sont largement ouvertes sur l'espace intérieur par une série d'arcades en plein cintre prenant appui sur une murette. Les galeries sud, est et ouest sont couvertes d'un toit en terrasse. Les bâtiments conventuels s'ordonnent autour d'elles. La galerie sud du cloître se poursuit en couloir voûté et donne accès à un escalier menant à la chapelle et aux étages.

History
The Marquis Henri de Montpezat had left a sum to be spent on charitable works at the time of his death. With the authorization of the Bishop of Cahors, his wife founded a monastery of Ursulines in order to give the young girls of the country Christian education and instruction. In 1796, the monastery was evacuated and sold in part. Most of the premises were allocated to municipal services. The main façade facing the square masks the cloister. Three galleries slightly below the level of the ground are widely opened onto the interior space by a series of round-arch arcades taking support on a low wall. The south, east and west galleries are covered with a terrace roof. The convent buildings are arranged around them. The south gallery of the cloister continues as a vaulted corridor and gives access to a staircase leading to the chapel and the upper floors.
