Historique

History
Erected between 1480 and 1520 by the Cistercian monks of the abbey of Belleperche of which it depended, this fortified flour mill furnished with two bartizans, one of which is cut off level, and three murder-holes on the façade, has the appearance of a manor. The range of building, in Roman brick, comprised the miller's dwelling. It is integral with a barrage bridge, called "Pont des Anes", with a tormented and sinusoidal course, with eleven arches of modulated opening, built in brick and resting on courses of dressed stone. The mill, installed at the terminal part of a river of more than 130 kilometres, was equipped in 1919 with four pairs of millstones of which the water chambers and metal gear wheels subsist, as well as the turbine producing electricity. Functioning until 1952, it was restored from 1977 to 1980.
