Les Avalats appartinrent aux seigneurs de Paulin, puis aux abbés de Saint-Benoît de Castres et enfin au chapître Sainte-Cécile d'Albi. History
Les Avalats belonged to the lords of Paulin, then to the abbots of Saint-Benoît de Castres and finally to the chapter of Sainte-Cécile d'Albi. Coins dating from Charles VIII and Louis XII were found in demolished walls at Les Avalats. The tower was part of the small fortified town while the castle was situated on the edge of the moats. In 1560, the village was already fortified.
