Historique

History
This edifice was part of the Catholic barrier, with Soual and Vielmur. The transformation of rural property into a fortified house is probably ancient, possibly dating back to the 15th century, a mention of 1516 qualifying the edifice as a tower. It was probably a "force", small fortified locality serving as a rallying place for populations in case of danger, and for the protection of crops and provisions against pillage. The whole comprises the castle to the south and the farm to the north, surrounding a square courtyard, as well as annexed buildings comprising a tower and dovecote. Three periods of construction emerge from the current building. Between 1560 and the end of that century, the oblong tower, the infrastructures of the south curtain wall and the lower parts of the west wing. At the end of the 17th century, arrangement of the main dwelling on the site of the south curtain wall, between the oblong tower and the old west castle. At the beginning of the 19th century, transformation of the south façade and construction of the return wing west of the interior courtyard.
