Historique

History
The city, which enjoyed significant commercial importance after the Hundred Years' War, was formerly contained within fortifications. The tower of the former Fabri hotel, also called the tower of Henri Court-Mantel, is one of the seven towers of the city. According to legend, Henri le Court-Mantel, son of Henri II Plantagenet and Eleanor of Aquitaine, withdrew to this residence after pillaging Rocamadour, and died there in 1183. The semi-projecting tower rises on five storeys. Its verticality is accentuated by fine pilasters with Ionic and Corinthian capitals framing the windows. Each window is surmounted by a triangular pediment. The tower houses a spiral staircase. At each landing, two doors open onto different rooms. A room on the first storey has retained its original arrangement, with pebble flooring, monumental fireplace, bread oven and sink. At the summit of the tower, a second spiral staircase is attached to it and gives access to a circular room.
