Historique

History
Estate mentioned from the 14th century. Château built between 1523 and 1534 by Jeanne de Balzac d'Entraigues on the site of an old fortress. It consists of two wings around the courtyard of honour. The monumental staircase is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture. It was sold as national property in 1800. Estate reconstituted by Maurice Fenaille at the beginning of the 20th century, before its donation to the State in May 1913. The mill, attested in the cadastre of 1830, is installed on a stream with low flow, but equipped upstream with two oval reservoirs dug into the bed of the stream: only one still remains. This four-storey building has the appearance of a substantial country dwelling with Mansart roof pierced by dormers, two on the main façade surmounted by a dovecote, one on each of the two sides. The entrance is at basement level, by a door bearing the date 1870. Below, inside the mill, an overshot water wheel, 4.30m in diameter, with all its gears and angle drives, drove two pairs of millstones in place on the ground floor: one still has its hopper. The mill stops at the beginning of the 20th century. The roof is completely remade in 1991.
