Historique
Le village de Montfaucon est une bastide sur plan régulier, bâtie par les Anglais pendant leur occupation de la Guyenne. L'église a été construite en même temps que le village. Elle comprend une nef à trois travées séparées par des doubleaux, et deux chapelles formant bras de croix. Les voûtes sont sur croisées d'ogives, reposant sur des culs de lampe ornés de têtes sculptés. Les clefs de voûtes sont sculptées aux armes d'Angleterre. History
The village of Montfaucon is a bastide on a regular plan, built by the English during their occupation of Guyenne. The church was built at the same time as the village. It comprises a nave of three bays separated by transverse ribs, and two chapels forming a cross arms. The vaults are on rib vaults, resting on corbels decorated with sculpted heads. The vault keystones are sculpted with the arms of England. A spiral staircase situated in the north-west corner of the cross arm allows access above the church vaults. The north chapel is surmounted by a guardroom. The south chapel was surmounted, shortly after the church's construction, by one or more superimposed rooms. Above these former rooms, a bell tower was erected around 1830. The moulding of the entrance portal is that of the late 13th century.
