Le château commandait tous les abords nord de Cahors et les vallons qui aboutissent au Lot. L'enceinte, bien que démantelée, est encore à peu près complète, avec des tours formant bastions d'angle. A l'intérieur se trouvent les restes de deux corps de logis et de plusieurs autres tours circulaires, dont un donjon à peu près intact jusqu'à hauteur des mâchicoulis. Le château a servi de carrière de pierres.

History
The castle commanded all the northern approaches to Cahors and the valleys leading to the Lot. The enclosure, although dismantled, is still more or less complete, with towers forming corner bastions. Inside are found the remains of two main dwelling blocks and several other circular towers, including a keep almost intact up to the height of the machicolations. The castle served as a stone quarry.
