Historique
Ce moulin, mentionné pour la première fois en 1260, appartenait aux Cisterciens d'Aubazines en Corrèze. Construit, pour l'essentiel en pierre de taille, il porte les caractères d'éléments défensifs sur trois des côtés de la salle des meules et sur la façade méridionale, notamment deux meurtrières vraisemblablement d'origine. L'intérieur en pavement de galets est équipé de quatre paires de meules entraînées par des rouets en bois. Le système de commande des vannes par treuil en bois est exceptionnel. Quelques signatures de meuniers (datées 1778, 1779, 1907) sont portées sur les embrasures des ouvertures. Le moulin a fonctionné jusqu'en 1959 ; dans un parfait état de conservation et d'entretien dans la tradition et le respect des matériaux des mécanismes, ce moulin conserve toujours son contingent d'écrasement de 1535 quintaux accordé en 1936. History
This mill, mentioned for the first time in 1260, belonged to the Cistercians of Aubazines in Corrèze. Built, for the most part in ashlar stone, it bears the characteristics of defensive elements on three sides of the millstone room and on the southern façade, notably two arrow slits presumably original. The interior with a pebble pavement is equipped with four pairs of millstones driven by wooden gear wheels. The system for controlling the sluice gates by wooden winch is exceptional. A few signatures of millers (dated 1778, 1779, 1907) are inscribed on the jambs of the openings. The mill operated until 1959; in perfect condition and maintenance according to tradition and respect for the materials of the mechanisms, this mill still retains its crushing quota of 1535 quintals granted in 1936. Exceptional witness to preindustrial milling, it has been open to the public for 40 years and offers milling demonstrations from April to September.
