Historique
La halle primitive ayant brûlé dans un incendie en 1833, un nouvel édifice bâti en 1837 occupe l'espace de la place et abrite, dans sa partie supérieure, l'hôtel de ville. Il fut vraisemblablement édifié à l'emplacement d'une maison communale. De forme carré, à un étage sur arcades en plein cintre, les salles de l'hôtel de ville sont disposées autour d'une cour intérieure carrée, et sont desservies par un balcon reposant sur des consoles et courant sur les quatre côtés. History
The original market hall having burned down in a fire in 1833, a new building constructed in 1837 occupies the space of the square and houses, in its upper part, the town hall. It was most likely built at the location of a communal house. Square in form, with one storey on round-arch arcades, the town hall rooms are arranged around a square interior courtyard, and are served by a balcony resting on consoles and running on all four sides. This courtyard is covered by a roof with four slopes forming a lantern. A straight staircase leads to the upper floor. The ground-level space is opened up by a series of square pillars supporting round-arch arcs on the façades and, beneath the town hall rooms, a network of diaphragm arches. Fountains were erected at the four corners of the market hall, in the form of female bronze statues.
