Historique

History
Castle struck by lightning and burnt, which served as a stone quarry. The building currently consists of a main dwelling flanked, at one of the angles, by a round tower topped with machicolations. A staircase tower projected from the west facade. A wall-walk with machicolations and crenellations crowns the top of the walls and towers. Various construction phases are visible. Part of the dwelling may date from the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14th, have been transformed in the 15th and completed in the 16th. Construction was completed in 1470. The windows were transformed in the 18th century. Inside, on the ground floor, a vaulted vestibule leads to a spiral staircase serving the floors and roof space. To the right of the vestibule, a door gives access to the pantry and kitchen. In the 18th century, the first floor was transformed in the taste of the period. Partitions, ceilings, fireplaces and joinery modified the original arrangements. This architecture is an example of military architecture of Gascony, where is nevertheless remarked the influence of the neighbouring regions of Quercy and Périgord brought no doubt by one of the master builders.
