Historique
La manufacture des tabacs fut construite entre 1888 et 1894. Elle est caractérisée par son grand bâtiment directorial. Divers bâtiments ont été ajoutés au début du 20e siècle, un réfectoire en 1903 et une cheminée pour les torréfacteurs en 1906. Après le rétablissement du monopole du tabac en 1810, Toulouse était devenue le siège d'une des seize manufactures impériales. La régie chargée de l'exploitation du monopole acquit en 1811 l'ancien couvent des Bénédictins, situé quai de la Daurade, puis en 1821 la filature de coton Boyer-Fonfrède. La production a été arrêtée en 1979, et les bâtiments sont désaffectés depuis 1984.

History
The tobacco manufactory was built between 1888 and 1894. It is characterized by its large directorial building. Various buildings were added in the early 20th century, a refectory in 1903 and a chimney for the roasters in 1906. After the re-establishment of the tobacco monopoly in 1810, Toulouse had become the seat of one of the sixteen imperial manufactories. The administration charged with the exploitation of the monopoly acquired in 1811 the former convent of the Benedictines, situated on the quai de la Daurade, then in 1821 the cotton mill Boyer-Fonfrède. Production was stopped in 1979, and the buildings have been disused since 1984.
