Castle built in 1540 by remodelling the old defensive manor to make it a pleasure residence more in keeping with the period. The work was certainly carried out by the architect Bachelier. In 1794, the towers were uncrenellated and the sculptures defaced. In 1676, 1743, 1887 (total restoration of the building), and 1898, interior alterations. The central tower has chamfered angles, pierced with brick windows, without ornament before restoration. The north wing contains large apartments and is flanked by a round tower with terrace. Juxtaposed to this tower is an elliptical wall which doubles it at 2/3, enveloping the turret of the small staircase. Machicolations at the interior angles on the courtyard. The south wing presents, on the second floor, an open gallery called "mirande". The link between the old central body and the wings of 1540 seems more skilful in the distribution plan than in the façades. The gateway known as "Henri IV" (16th century) presents a vault with three arches and is flanked by two square pavilions joined by a triangular pediment. Above the door, a small terrace and, on the buildings, as covering, two domes with chamfered angles in pointed brick. To the right and left, adjoining the pavilions, rises a straight wall crowned by four pylons resting on an ornate cornice. The façade of the outbuildings was built in 1740. The interiors retain part of their original decoration with exposed beam ceilings moulded or painted, some brick chimneypieces of which one, in the lower hall, is decorated with a large Renaissance cartouche. The Cabinet of Quatrains retains a rib vault decorated with arabesques and mythological scenes with Henri II style woodwork.
