Historique

History
Palaminy ranks among the bastides founded by Sicart-Aleman, seneschal of the count of Toulouse, in 1250-1260, with a checkerboard plan and walls of pebbles. On the death of Alphonse of Poitiers, Palaminy becomes the direct seigneury of Philip the Bold. In the 14th century, the place is held by Gaston Phoebus. In the following periods, the kings of France remain co-lords of Palaminy. The castle forms the northwestern angle of the bastide and has incorporated within its walls the primitive enclosure. The building presents itself as an irregular quadrilateral flanked with massive towers at the angles, except the southeastern angle occupied by a corbelled tower of the 17th century. The facades present openings from different periods. In 1878, the formal garden is replaced by an English park, then restored in 1912. On the other side of the street, the house "La Roucat" and the Lime Tree house with timber framing complete the ensemble. Inside, the staircase and reception rooms are decorated with 19th-century panelling. The marquise's bedroom is hung with red silk from the 18th century.
