Castle built from 1579 to 1583 by Dominique Bachelier, for Pierre de Cheverny, general treasurer of the Finances of Languedoc. Outbuildings built at the end of the 17th century. Laying out of the park in the first half of the 18th century (statues by Marc Arcis), modifications in the 19th century. Surrounded by moats, the castle presents itself as a quadrilateral of buildings surrounding a central courtyard. Four projecting square towers occupy the corners. The construction is made of alternating courses of stone and brick. The facades open with mullioned and transomed windows, and are crowned by a cornice supported by fluted consoles. Access to the courtyard is through a monumental arcade gate after the bridge crossing the moat. In the courtyard, against the entrance wall, runs across the full width a gallery with open bays borne on corbels. This gallery establishes communication between the two wings on the first floor. A double-flight perron gives access to the main dwelling. This edifice constitutes an interesting and complete example of 16th century civil architecture.
