Historique
L'entrée de l'ancien palais des évêques de Comminges s'ouvre par une porte du 15e siècle donnant accès à un escalier en vis qui dessert tous les étages de l'ancien évêché. Au-dessus de la porte, un bas-relief représentant la vache héraldique de Béarn, portant au cou un écusson avec les armes de Béarn et de Foix, est encastré dans le tympan. En 1795, le monument est vendu comme bien national.

History
The entrance of the former palace of the bishops of Comminges opens by a door of the 15th century giving access to a spiral staircase which serves all the storeys of the former bishopric. Above the door, a bas-relief representing the heraldic cow of Béarn, bearing on its neck an escutcheon with the arms of Béarn and Foix, is set into the tympanum. In 1795, the monument is sold as national property.
