"La construction de ce château épiscopal s'est tenue de 1317 à 1346. En 1568, le château est en grande partie saccagé par les guerres de Religion. De 1673 à 1710, les ailes ouest et sud sont remaniées. Sur plan carré avec une cour centrale, le château a l'apparence d'une forteresse. Du côté sud, une tour centrale se détache en hauteur et des tourelles ornent les angles, seule fantaisie de cette architecture massive. Prévu pour servir d'abord de place forte (meurtrières à fusil visibles dans le rempart) , le château fut transformé en résidence d'été et doté à l'intérieur d'éléments décoratifs. Les murs de la chapelle sont peints d'un décor géométrique du 14e siècle, recouvert par endroits de scènes du 18e siècle avec grands personnages. La "Chambre de l'Evêque" est ornée d'un plafond à caissons en bois peint polychrome, du 17e siècle. Une chambre haute conserve des traces de décor peint du 14e ou 15e siècle."

"The construction of this episcopal castle took place from 1317 to 1346. In 1568, the castle is largely sacked by the Wars of Religion. From 1673 to 1710, the west and south wings are remodelled. On a square plan with a central courtyard, the castle has the appearance of a fortress. On the south side, a central tower stands out in height and turrets adorn the angles, sole fancy of this massive architecture. Intended first to serve as a stronghold (rifle loopholes visible in the rampart), the castle was transformed into a summer residence and furnished internally with decorative elements. The walls of the chapel are painted with geometric decoration of the 14th century, covered in places with scenes of the 18th century with great personages. The "Bishop's Chamber" is adorned with a coffered wooden ceiling painted in polychrome, from the 17th century. A high room preserves traces of painted decoration from the 14th or 15th century."
