Cette tour fait partie de l'ensemble fortifié qui ceinturait toute la ville. Cette construction a été décidée après la bataille de Crécy et contre les bandes qui dévastaient la région. History
This tower forms part of the fortified complex which encircled the entire town. This construction was decided after the battle of Crécy and against the bands which were ravaging the region. It began in 1350 at the instigation of the seneschal of Rodez who had its plan drawn up by engineers, taking advantage of natural escarpments. The work lasted ten years, financed by the clergy. Every fifty metres, a tower flanked the fortification. The Grosse Tower bore a bell at its top. Internally, it presents vaulted rooms and a cupola. The tower no longer has its original height and its crenellations.
