La fondation de cet édifice remonte au 8e siècle, l'église fut rebâtie par Roger II, comte de Foix. L'église initiale devait comporter une nef bordée de bas-côtés, un transept et une ou trois absides. De cet édifice subsistent les murs des bas-côtés et du transpet, ainsi que le portail sud. Une reconstruction du 14e siècle en a fait une église gothique à nef unique, terminée par un chevet entouré de chapelles rayonnantes placées entre les contreforts. Une tour carrée fut ajoutée à l'ouest de la nef. Au 18e siècle, les voûtes endommagées par les guerres de Religion (1581) furent reconstruites. Les travaux pour restaurer l'église furent exécutés de 1609 à 1613, et se poursuivirent pendant tout le 17e siècle.

History
The foundation of this building dates back to the 8th century, the church was rebuilt by Roger II, count of Foix. The initial church should have comprised a nave bordered by aisles, a transept and one or three apses. From this building survive the walls of the aisles and the transept, as well as the south portal. A reconstruction of the 14th century made it a Gothic church with a single nave, terminated by a chevet surrounded by radiating chapels placed between the buttresses. A square tower was added to the west of the nave. In the 18th century, the vaults damaged by the Wars of Religion (1581) were rebuilt. The work to restore the church was executed from 1609 to 1613, and continued throughout the 17th century.
