En 1872, la municipalité constate que le bourg est dépourvu d'abreuvoirs publics et qu'il convient d'aménager une fontaine qui sera alimentée par la déviation de sources surgissant dans le pré Farjou. Construite en pierre de Volvic, la fontaine se compose d'un bassin circulaire et d'une colonne centrale à quatre jets. L'eau jaillit de la bouche de quatre masques barbus. Un chapiteau corinthien surmonte la colonne. Bien que stylisé, ce chapiteau présente toutes les caractéristiques du modèle antique : astragale torique, corbeille feuillagée, crosses et volutes, tailloir frappé d'une fleur par face. History
In 1872, the municipality notes that the village is without public watering places and that it is necessary to set up a fountain which will be fed by the diversion of springs rising in the Farjou field. Built in Volvic stone, the fountain consists of a circular basin and a central column with four jets. Water spurts from the mouths of four bearded masks. A Corinthian capital surmounts the column. Although stylized, this capital presents all the characteristics of the antique model: toric astragal, foliated bell, scrolls and volutes, abacus struck with a flower on each face. A dome with exterior decorated with false scales covers this capital. This dome is crowned by a vase filled with a kind of pine cone, itself surmounted by a bust of Marianne.
