The castle rises on an elongated platform. Outbuildings are attached to it on the north side and it is surrounded by an enclosure with irregular outlines whose relief is obtained by the cutting of the rock. The castle is a long building terminated by two large square towers dominating the central part. At their summit runs a covered wall-walk with machicolations and corner échauguettes. The same defensive arrangement exists at the top of the façade. The two towers are probably older: the castle as a whole was transformed in the 16th century. The mullioned openings, the main door, the staircase with its vaults with liernes and tiercerons, the fireplaces, the crowning details indicate the period of transition, but the sculpture, the composition of the door flanked by fusiform columns belong to the Renaissance. The central main dwelling, built in 1531, comprises three storeys with four rooms each, having retained their French ceilings and their monumental fireplaces. Traces of ancient constructions, to the north and in the garden, prove that the building was more important than it currently is. The drawbridge must have been located to the east. Below the defensive towers of the ramparts there still exist oubliettes with their trapdoors. This castle is a perfectly preserved and unrestored example of a seigneurial residence of the 13th century modified in the 16th.
