Historique

History
Church built at the initiative of Anne of Beaujeu, daughter of Louis XI, regent of the kingdom and viscountess of Carlat. Construction is undertaken from 1503 to 1522. In 1649, the ruined vaults are replaced by a ceiling. In 1845, refurbishment of the stone flooring. In 1851, construction of a sacristy. The interior paintings date from the late 19th century. The plan of the edifice has not been modified since its origin. It comprises a nave of two unequal bays, extended by a straight choir and a pentagonal apse. Two chapels open either side of the central bay. The vault rests on sculpted corbels. A wooden turret containing a spiral staircase rises from the gallery towards the belfry. The bell tower supports a belfry of four openings. Three small columns constitute the jambs of the entrance portal, receiving the mouldings which frame the tympanum. On the latter, two quadrilobes contain the arms of the foundress. This edifice conforms to the Cantal model.
