Historique

History
Castle constructed in three main campaigns. In the 16th century, there existed a small fortified castle composed of a main dwelling flanked on its south angles by two round towers with conical roofs, and on the north by a staircase tower standing detached attached to the middle of the façade. A bretèche on corbel ensured the vertical flanking of the access door of the spiral staircase. Decapped at the Revolution, this tower is today covered by a single-slope roof. In the 17th century, addition of a round tower raised at the south-west angle. The right part of the north façade was pierced by a bay with large openings, with a dormer with pediment flanked by two small finials, characteristic of the beginning of the 17th century. The interior arrangement was likewise modified at this period: decoration in the taste of the period in the red room (French-style ceiling painted in distemper in grey) and the great hall (French-style ceiling more elaborate than the previous room). A third campaign, in the 18th century, saw the construction to the west of a wing attached to the main dwelling and forming a right-angled return on the north façade. Inside this wing is a wooden staircase whose rail presents a form common in Cantal: rods aligned united by curves alternately at the top and bottom, joined by alternated clasps. Facing the north façade, the commons wing is flanked by two pavilions at its ends: to the west rises the bakehouse with the projecting apse of the oven; to the east, the chapel of 1622.
