A l'origine, le château se composait d'un ensemble de bâtiments fortifiés ordonnés autour d'une cour quadrangulaire et entourés de fossés en eau. Cette disposition initiale transparaît encore, mais l'enceinte médiévale a quasiment disparu. Le fossé sud est franchi par un pont maçonné qui donne accès à la cour d'honneur autour de laquelle s'ordonne divers bâtiments : une tour ronde du 15e siècle ; un corps de logis du 17e (1689-1698) ; en retour d'équerre, le fournil accoté à la tour, et une aile de communs en partie ruinée. La tour se compose d'un rez-de-chaussée voûté, de trois étages et d'un comble. Elle possède un escalier en vis dans oeuvre. Le couronnement conserve ses corbeaux formant mâchicoulis. Le corps de logis, barlong, se compose d'un rez-de-chaussée légèrement surélevé, d'un étage noble et de combles. A l'intérieur, présence d'un escalier suspendu à volées droites sur limon porteur, du 19e siècle, dans oeuvre. Une travée en léger retrait raccorde l'aile du logis à la tour. La tour médiévale correspond à un style peu représenté en Bourbonnais.

History
Originally, the castle consisted of a group of fortified buildings arranged around a quadrangular courtyard and surrounded by water-filled moats. This initial arrangement is still apparent, but the medieval enclosure has almost disappeared. The south moat is crossed by a masonry bridge which gives access to the courtyard of honour around which various buildings are arranged: a round tower of the 15th century; a main dwelling of the 17th century (1689-1698); at right angles, the bakehouse adjoined to the tower, and a wing of outbuildings partly in ruins. The tower consists of a vaulted ground floor, three storeys and a roof space. It has a winding stair within the structure. The crowning preserves its corbels forming machicolations. The main dwelling, oblong, consists of a slightly raised ground floor, a noble floor and roof spaces. Inside, the presence of a suspended stair with straight flights on a load-bearing string, of the 19th century, within the structure. A bay in slight setback connects the wing of the dwelling to the tower. The medieval tower corresponds to a style little represented in Bourbonnais.
