Paroisse reconnue en 1105 par Pascal II à l'abbaye de Tournus. L'édifice en croix latine comporte une nef flanquée de bas-côtés, un transept, et un choeur à abside semi-circulaire entre deux absidioles ouvrant chacune sur un bras du transept. La nef est formée de deux travées couvertes par un berceau lisse, recevant le jour par une fenêtre haute étroite à l'arc en plein cintre, et communiquant avec les bas-côtés par des arcs brisés reçus sur pilastres par l'intermédiaire d'impostes chanfreinées. Entre la nef et le transept s'élèvent deux épais massifs où sont engagées, sur deux côtés, des colonnes surmontées de chapiteaux sculptés. La voûte de cette croisée, supportée par quatre arcs en plein cintre, est, selon la formule auvergnate, en forme de coupole sur trompes. L'abside de plan semi-circulaire est couverte d'un cul-de-four et encadrée de colonnettes aux chapiteaux sculptés de visages humains grossièrement traités et s'appuyant sur des mains. Le décor sculpté des autres chapiteaux mêle personnages humains, animaux, végétaux, masques grimaçants... Edifice présentant les caractéristiques de l'architecture bourbonnaise.

History
Parish recognized in 1105 by Pascal II to the abbey of Tournus. The building in Latin cross comprises a nave flanked by aisles, a transept, and a choir with semi-circular apse between two small apses each opening onto an arm of the transept. The nave is formed of two bays covered by a smooth barrel vault, receiving light from a high narrow window with a round arch, and communicating with the aisles by pointed arches received on pilasters by means of chamfered imposts. Between the nave and the transept rise two thick masses where are engaged, on two sides, columns topped with sculpted capitals. The vault of this crossing, supported by four round arches, is, according to the Auvergnat formula, in the form of a dome on squinches. The apse of semi-circular plan is covered with a cul-de-four and framed by colonnettes with capitals sculpted with roughly treated human faces and resting on hands. The sculpted decoration of the other capitals mingles human figures, animals, vegetation, grimacing masks... Building presenting the characteristics of Bourbon architecture.
