Historique
Edifice d'époque romane, remanié à différentes périodes. Il se compose d'une nef au vaisseau rectangulaire terminé par un choeur au chevet plat. Le vaisseau est couvert d'une charpente ayant remplacé un berceau en plein cintre. La façade occidentale est surmontée d'un clocher-mur terminé en pignon, ajouré de deux baies en plein cintre dont l'une contient une cloche. L'église de Frontenat, siège d'une paroisse de l'ancien diocèse de Bourges, a été vendue comme bien national à la Révolution puis rachetée à Archignat lors du Concordat de 1802. Depuis la Révolution, elle est restée propriété privée et a conservé son caractère d'édifice religieux.

History
Building of Romanesque period, remodelled at different times. It comprises a nave with a rectangular vault terminated by a choir with a straight chevet. The vault is covered with roof structure that replaced a round arch barrel vault. The western façade is topped by a porch tower terminated in a gable, pierced by two round arch openings, one of which contains a bell. The church of Frontenat, seat of a parish of the former diocese of Bourges, was sold as national property during the Revolution and then repurchased by Archignat at the Concordat of 1802. Since the Revolution, it has remained private property and has retained its character as a religious building.
