Cette église appartient à une famille d'édifices construits dans le Livradois à la fin du 15e siècle dont les proportions sont à l'origine d'une architecture de caractère montagnard. Avant 1789, elle était à la nomination de l'abbé de la Chaise-Dieu. Fenêtres étroites, proportions massives, nef unique et large rattachent cet édifice au gothique méridional d'inspiration casadéenne. L'édifice se présente comme une église orientée à tour-clocher, nef à deux travées, choeur polygonal à trois pans. Chapelles nord et sud forment bras de transept. Un escalier en vis dessert le clocher par une tourelle polygonale hors-oeuvre adossée au massif occidental.

History
This church belongs to a family of buildings constructed in the Livradois at the end of the 15th century whose proportions are at the origin of an architecture of mountainous character. Before 1789, it was in the nomination of the abbot of La Chaise-Dieu. Narrow windows, massive proportions, single and wide nave attach this building to the southern Gothic of Casadean inspiration. The building presents itself as an oriented church with bell tower, nave with two bays, polygonal choir with three facets. North and south chapels form transept arms. A spiral staircase serves the bell tower by a polygonal turret projecting outboard attached to the western mass.
