Historique

History
Of the fortified castle there remains an enclosure flanked by four towers and an entrance pavilion, whose general form is approximately pentagonal. The west face of the enclosure is occupied by a main dwelling flanked by a tower at each extremity. The south front consists of two parts; that on the left possessed a main dwelling which has disappeared. Two towers are pierced with arrow slits and appear to date from the 13th century, as do their curtain walls and the lower parts of the west main dwelling. This main dwelling was remodelled in the 16th century and pierced with mullioned windows. It contains fireplaces, a spiral staircase in the corner which terminates in a vault whose eight ribs spring from the central core. The entrance building must date from the early 17th century, and retains traces of the chains and drawbridge platform of the former drawbridge. The building situated to its left, of the same period, is flanked by a machicolated turret. At the foot of the south curtain wall is found a 13th-century postern. The pavilion situated in the centre of the courtyard dates from the 16th century, as does the large heraldic well situated in the second courtyard.
