La paroisse comportait autrefois un prieuré qui fut donné en 1193 par le chapitre de Clermont au prieuré du Lac Rouge, à condition que soit construite une église. Cet édifice est un bon exemple de petite église rurale caractéristique de l'Auvergne romane, avec une nef relativement élevée voûtée en berceau accompagnée de collatéraux étroits voûtés en demi berceaux ; absence de transept. Une coupole sur trompe soutient le clocher (l'actuel, date du milieu du 19e siècle). Le chevet en hémicycle est flanqué de deux absidioles, peut-être postérieures. History
The parish formerly had a priory which was given in 1193 by the chapter of Clermont to the priory of Lac Rouge, on condition that a church be built. This edifice is a good example of a small rural church characteristic of Romanesque Auvergne, with a relatively high nave vaulted with a barrel vault accompanied by narrow aisles vaulted with half barrel vaults; absence of transept. A dome on squinch supports the bell tower (the present one dates from the middle of the 19th century). The chevet in hemicycle is flanked by two absidioles, perhaps later additions. The western portal has been removed.
