Historique

History
Health resort fashionable during the Restoration and the Second Empire because of the therapeutic quality of its sulphurous waters, Mont-Doré saw its clientele of spa-goers flock to it to such an extent that it was necessary to enlarge the thermal establishment constructed by Charles Ledru in 1817. In 1890, Emile Camut was charged with this enlargement. While he preserves Ledru's external style and the original appearance of the buildings, simply increasing the main façade with two corner pavilions and an additional storey, he completely remodelled the interior. This interior is inspired at once by Roman thermal baths (reuse of antique remains) and Auvergnat Romanesque art (basilical plan with round arches).
