En 1060, Gérald de la Tour et ses frères firent don de l'église de Messeix au prieuré de Sauxillanges. Remontant à l'époque romane, ce petit santuaire a été remanié au 14e siècle. La partie haute du clocher date du 19e siècle (partie basse du 14e). Les bas-côtés et l'abside ont conservé leur corniche romane sur corbeaux sculptés. La nef comporte trois travées voûtées en berceau brisé que flanquent deux collatéraux dont les travées sont séparées par des arcs diaphragmes. L'abside à cinq pans est voûtée d'ogives. History
In 1060, Gérald de la Tour and his brothers made a gift of the church of Messeix to the priory of Sauxillanges. Dating back to the Romanesque period, this small sanctuary was remodelled in the 14th century. The upper part of the bell tower dates from the 19th century (lower part from the 14th). The aisles and apse have preserved their Romanesque cornice on sculpted corbels. The nave comprises three bays vaulted in broken barrel vault flanked by two side aisles whose bays are separated by diaphragm arches. The five-sided apse is vaulted with ribs. Gothic portal. Side chapels of the 17th century.
