Bâtie sur les fondements d'un édifice plus ancien abritant les reliques du premier évêque de Vannes, sans doute détruit fin 9e ou début 10e siècle par les Normands, l'église en croix latine date du 11e siècle. Après les destructions de 1721 et 1726 dues aux tempêtes, l'édifice est reconstruit à partir de 1727 selon les plans de l'architecte Olivier Delourme. La tour est achevée en 1826 par l'architecte Brunet-Debaines.

History
Built on the foundations of an older building that housed the relics of the first bishop of Vannes, probably destroyed in the late 9th or early 10th century by the Normans, the Latin cross church dates from the 11th century. After the destructions of 1721 and 1726 caused by storms, the building was reconstructed from 1727 according to the plans of architect Olivier Delourme. The tower was completed in 1826 by architect Brunet-Debaines.
