Historique
De l'édifice primitif et de celui du 11e siècle, il ne reste rien. Une nouvelle cathédrale fut entreprise au 12e siècle. A partir de 1454, la nef fut reprise et consacrée en 1499. Entre 1504 et 1520, la croisée de transept fut achevée. En 1537 se greffa au nord une chapelle circulaire. Un projet de réfection totale n'aboutit qu'à la réalisation de la chapelle axiale. L'hémicycle roman ne fut supprimé qu'en 1770, après que la nef ait été voûtée d'arêtes. En 1825 fut rebâtie la flèche nord, foudroyée. La façade occidentale fut restaurée entre 1868 et 1876. Malgré ces transformations, l'édifice est resté fidèle à la disposition romane, et comprend une nef de 43 m sur 14, accompagnée de dix chapelles latérales, un transept à bras inégaux, un choeur enveloppé d'un déambulatoire et, en enfilade, deux chapelles axiales.

History
Nothing remains of the primitive building and that of the 11th century. A new cathedral was undertaken in the 12th century. From 1454, the nave was taken up again and consecrated in 1499. Between 1504 and 1520, the transept crossing was completed. In 1537 a circular chapel was grafted on to the north. A project for total refectioning resulted only in the realisation of the axial chapel. The Romanesque hemicycle was not removed until 1770, after the nave had been vaulted with groins. In 1825 the north spire, struck by lightning, was rebuilt. The western façade was restored between 1868 and 1876. Despite these transformations, the building remained faithful to the Romanesque disposition, and comprises a nave of 43 m by 14, accompanied by ten lateral chapels, a transept with unequal arms, a choir enveloped by an ambulatory and, in succession, two axial chapels.
