La chapelle est construite à l'emplacement de l'ermitage de Saint-Gobrien, évêque de Vannes mort en 725. Un premier édifice fut construit au 11e siècle ; il en reste quelques pans dans la nef. Le reste de l'édifice porte la marque de plusieurs campagnes de construction : au 15e siècle se rattachent le portail sud de la nef et la reprise totale de la façade occidentale ; le mur diaphragme divisant la nef en deux parties, occupé actuellement par un chancel, peut dater du 16e siècle comme la maison de chapelain adossée au mur nord de la nef et communiquant directement avec la tribune installée dans la partie ouest de la nef. A l'intérieur de l'église se trouve le tombeau de Saint-Gobrien, du 14e siècle. Actuellement, la chapelle est un lieu de pèlerinage.

History
The chapel is built on the site of the hermitage of Saint-Gobrien, bishop of Vannes who died in 725. A first building was constructed in the 11th century; some sections remain in the nave. The rest of the building bears the mark of several building campaigns: to the 15th century belong the south portal of the nave and the complete reworking of the west facade; the diaphragm wall dividing the nave into two parts, currently occupied by a chancel, may date from the 16th century as does the chaplain's house abutting the north wall of the nave and communicating directly with the gallery installed in the west part of the nave. Inside the church is the tomb of Saint-Gobrien, from the 14th century. Currently, the chapel is a place of pilgrimage.
